First up has to be my magic brush.
I have had mine for years, I don’t even remember when I got mine, maybe 2015 or 2016. Mine is still in great condition despite me moving around tonnes and using it on loads of different horses. It is also really easy to get the hair out. I tend to brush it against the corner of a wall or something pointy, you could even brush on the corner of a wheelbarrow to avoid having to sweep. The hair comes off straight away and then you can just sweep it up. This makes everything super easy and saves a lot of time.
I absolutely love it, its perfect for getting mud off, helping when they are malting and even stable stains. I use it every time I brush Didi and she really enjoys it, I also use it to give her scratches which I think she loves.
The magic brushes come in a variety of colours an pattern and they also have a softer version for the face and sensitve areas or clipped horses.
Another of my favourite products is my carrot ball. I hadn’t used it for a while as I haven’t really seen a need for it. But when I first got it, I used it whenever Blu had to stand in for day and it really helped with his boredom. It is a little tricky which means it can keep them occupied for a long time. It is very easy to re inflate with just a normal pump and it is very hardy so they couldn’t damage it. Sometimes I also only put half carrots in to make it a bit trickier.
As our horses didn’t get a lot of turnout last month, I decided to start using it again. And I have decided to give it to Didi as she can only go out in the arena due to her mud fever. Didi was a little confused to start with but I think she enjoyed it. It took her a while to figure out how to get the carrots out but she managed to get them out and it kept her occupied and meant her haylege lasted longer.
Blu has also had it recently and he really enjoyed it, he gets bored easily though so when it got trickier he just gave up. But lucky for him, he doesn’t need it as much as he gets to go in the fields.
Next up is what I use to get rid of the stains on my lovely grey mare.
I use L’Oréal ELIVE purple shampoo, at roughly £6 it is a lot cheaper than any ‘horse’ shampoo I’ve come across. I wet Didi’s stains and then rub a little bit of the shampoo in and then rub again with a damp sponge. After this I wipe the stain with water and its gone. The shampoo gets rid of the stains really easily and really quickly you just have to put some elbow grease into it. I also use this on her tail which gets very yellow. I hose her tail fully and then rub the shampoo in, hose again and then I leave it. After it has dried it comes out clean and sparkling white. I couldn’t recommend this enough for people with grey horses and its super easy to get hold of as most supermarkets stock it. I don’t tend to give Didi a full bath, I just use this shampoo to scrub the stains and if I’m in a rush its perfect because it takes no time at all.
Now would be my one of my favourite company for cheap but quality breeches which is Just Jodz.
I have a pair of their ‘essentials’ breeches as well as a pair of their leggings.
My breeches are really comfy, they have zipped pockets and are perfect thickness. They are really smart looking and they are my go to breeches especially on the slightly colder days. They have them in numerous different colours and they are a really affordable price, only £19 for a pair of the ‘essentials’ breeches. They have different styles as well as lots of jodhpurs too.
The leggings are super lightweight and come in a range of colours at an affordable price too. They are really stretchy but skin tight and are water resistant. There is a phone case which is really secure and I always put my phone in there and I have even left it there when I’ve jumped and I didn’t even notice it and it didn’t come out. Although as leggings you would think you become slippery in the saddle but not at all. I don’t feel any different in the saddle whether I’m in my breeches or my leggings. Their logo is on all their products but it doesn’t take over the products so they still look super smart and professional.
I couldn’t recommend their breeches or their leggings enough, I wear mine all the time. My breeches are perfect for the colder days and my leggings are perfect for warm summer days or when its raining because they dry super quick.
And last is my horslyx. We have recently purchased the original balancer and it has changed our lives. Both of our horses can get quite impatient in the mornings or stroppy or stressed if they get left but this has completely changed them. If we’re grooming, tacking up or they need to wait around, changing rugs or anything like that we give it to them. They both absolutely love it and it keeps them occupied and happy. Didi hates it when I drag her away from it. It is so lovely to now be able to do everything at our own speed without having to rush because they are getting impatient because quite frankly I think they would stand all day with it.
We have just bought a second one because we love it so much which means they now have one each. It comes in various sizes whether you just want a small one to hold, a larger one for the stable or even a 80kg one for the field.
As well as the benefits of keeping them occupied and reliving stress and boredom it is also great to ensure your horse stays happy and healthy all year round as it balances any nutrient deficiencies in forage and grazing.
These are just some of my everyday items that you will always see me using. I highly recommended everything in this blog and these are my complete honest reviews.
If you do buy any of these products, I hope you love them as much as I do. Again thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.
